Painting lovers would definitely like to undertake “Chuhuyiv. Historic sketches” tour which comes through Kharkiv Museum of Art and Memorial Homestead of Repins’ family in the town of Chuhuyiv. The unique creative legacy of the artist is kept in his hometown.
Between the exhibits introduced in the homestead you can find icons by Ilya Repin painted by the artist in the days of his youth as well as the famous picture “Cossacks of Zaporizhya are writing the letter to Turkish Sultan”. Chuhuyiv is famous for being a center for eight military communities districts in first half of nineteenth century. At present, the town is the only place in Ukraine to preserve architecture of those days such as Headquarter building of military communities and King’s (Tsar’s) palace.
