Exhibition description

Bratyna.
Copper. Silver plating. 17th century.
This vessel, known since the times of Rus-Ukraine, was used for communal ritual drinking during ceremonial meals or celebrations. The bratina with wine or beer was passed around the circle of guests, emphasising the equality and brotherhood of those present. It bears the inscription: ‘Brothers of Ignatius Ermolayev, son’.
