Horse bridle browband.
Bronze. Scythian period. 6th–5th century BC.
Part of a warrior's horse equipment – a cross-shaped plate of the Olbia type found in a burial mound near the village of Yenkivtsi in the Lubny district. The item is made in the Scythian animal style. The crossbar of the browband is modelled in the form of three female elk heads. On the front side of the plate, there are five figures of wolves in a submissive pose. Items in the animal style testify to the high artistic level of Scythian craftsmen and have preserved for us an idea of the Scythians' worldview.
