Exhibition description

A sabre that belonged to the Apostol family. The blade and hilt are made of steel. Closer to the hilt, there are round indentations on the blade: 3 and 6 indentations on the right side of the blade and 3 on the left. According to legend, the number of indentations corresponds to the number of enemies killed, equal in rank to the owner of the sabre. On the part of the blade adjacent to the hilt, across the blade on both sides, there are inscriptions in Cyrillic script: ‘ALEXEY APOSTOL MIRGOROTSKY. YEAR. 1680’.

Saber of the Apostles family, 1680.
