Kandiika-type Bowl
Poltava Region, Opishnia. Made by I. Hladyrevskyi.
The bowl has a light brown ground. The centre is decorated with a large stylised bunch of grapes composed of numerous small round berries rendered as dark blue, green, and white dots. The bunch has an elongated triangular shape, widening towards the top and narrowing towards the bottom, resembling a heavy cluster of ripe grapes.
To the right of the bunch runs a long, curved dark blue grapevine. It follows the composition in a gentle curve and is decorated with small green leaves and rows of white dots. Near the bunch, the vine terminates in two large scrolls characteristic of folk decorative painting.
The rim is decorated with a white kryvulka (undulating line). The inner edge of the rim is outlined with a thin dark blue line, emphasising its shape.
Colours: white, brown, blue, and green. The rim is decorated with a white-painted kryvulka. The base bears the maker’s mark: “ИВАНЪ ГЛАДЫРЕВСКІЙ ОПОШНЯ”.
Provenance: From the museum collection, acquired before the Second World War.
